The department aims to equip both undergraduates and postgraduates with professional competence in Thai and other Oriental Languages. For the undergraduates who major in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Khmer, and Vietnamese, the department focuses on cultivating human resources with a profound knowledge of language skills, culture, literature, politics, economy, art, including essential aspects of social studies. The postgraduates will be professionally trained in the theories and practice for Teaching Thai as a Foreign Language as well as Thai Language and Literature by our distinguished lectures and professors.
The department values the importance of faculty research and publications for professional development and has been well recognized through collaboration with foreign universities, including Exchange Student Programs and visiting scholars. The department also provides the overseas applicants with no basic knowledge of Thai language a “Preparatory Intensive Thai Language Program for International Students (PTPI)” and several training courses in Thai and Oriental Languages for those who wish to improve their language skills.
